Dress to be WEDnesday!

5.29.2013

Happy Dress to be WEDnesday with event design ideas by LiveEventfully! -  KristynJennifer Events, and styles by Dress For The Wedding!  With summer nearly here, we were inspired by all the pastel, sherbet, and sunset-colored hues that mean casual outdoor weddings and beach weddings will soon be here. To inspire you, we've pinned everything from beautiful beach wedding inspiration to simple outdoor cookouts, on our shared Pinterest board and we have these two summertime styled looks to share today.

Pink Lemonade Inspiration
Some of the citrus-inspired summer looks we fell in love with featured fruity colors like lemon, orange, and bright strawberry pink. Besides getting thirsty and hungry, these colors also inspired us to create a "pink lemonade" wedding look.

This summer style look is for a wedding guest going to a casual daytime outdoor wedding like a backyard cookout, or informal garden wedding -- where the yellow maxi dress and bright accessories, and flat sandals will fit right in with the decor and the refreshments!  We love the way the pink pops against the yellow. This dress would be lovely for summer shower or casual beach wedding , too.

Beach weddings are often associated with destination weddings, but with the warm summer weather finding its way to both coasts our country, many couples are able to plan local seaside weddings during the summer months. Beach weddings can have so many dimensions like the rich coral-themed decor like the image below,  a tropical look with swaying palm trees and a sandy aisle, or a crisp white tent, with elegant chairs.

For a beachside wedding guest, the look can be a little less formal than most weddings. A sundress  like this one in a bright coral color will pop against the bright blue ocean, and the gold toned accessories will show off your tan!

Has our summer theme got you ready for summer favorites like refreshing drinks and beach breezes? We hope we've inspired you to think about having a  laid-back summer party or wedding and that you're getting  ready to wear pretty dresses  like these in the sun!

Dress To Be WEDnesday: Focus on Florals

Happy Dress to be WEDnesday! Spring is here, and with spring comes flowers. Right? (Eventually... they haven't arrived here, yet!) Sukey be the first one to admit, she tends to shy away from bold patterns and florals. After all--florals can get a bad rap as being too splashy, or, conversely--too dated and grandmotherly. But this season, beautiful, vibrant, youthful florals are everywhere--and She's becoming quite a fan.

Florals are perfect for a wedding because they are completely romantic and feminine. The wedding ceremony and reception will likely be filled with real flowers, so why not add a few floral patterns to wedding decor, or have your bridesmaids wear a pretty floral print?

There are so many ranges within florals themselves, that I'm certain there is a floral to suit every style. One can select anything from the bright prints of Amy Butler and Lilly Pulitzer, which are perfectly preppy, to the pretty romantic shabby chic patterns that convey grace and romance.  We've pinned a full range of floral wedding inspiration: everything from fun vintage floral looks,  to romantic Victorian tea party styles, to punchy bold prints.

Take a look at these three dresses I've selected and see if you're ready to pick a few floral trends for yourself.

Preppy Floral

This dress is perfectly suited for an early morning or afternoon spring or summertime wedding. This is one of Lilly Pulitzer's signature prints-- if you're a Lilly fan, you may even consider this for your bridesmaids! If you're a guest, it's a perfect style for a garden reception or any kind of casual coastal or preppy themed wedding. It would be cute to wear to a bridal shower, too! I put some pretty floral touches with it --Kate Spade earrings, and I love the patterned shell Tipsy Skipper clutch with it, too.

Sukey is such a fan of this dress. I love the dainty flowers and the pleats--it's ladylike and then some! This might just be the ideal dress for a bride to wear to her shower or to her rehearsal dinner because it's white, but then has a pretty blooms of color to add interest.  She is not recommending it for a wedding guest because She is too fearful of the "never wear white" rule,  although usually an allover print with a white background is fine. It's just that this has so much white,  and it's so special... She thinks it might be best to not to risk it.  She has styled it for a bridal shower, with little garden-y touches in the lattice hot pink shoes, the pretty floral pink and green earrings, and that floral clutch. She can see that clutch doing double duty: worn first with this outfit, and for the bride to use on her wedding day as well.

Garden Party Dress

Isn't this floral maxi dress so lovely? It has a garden party/shabby chic/vintage/beach-y hippie vibe to it--it all depends on how you style it! I decided on the "garden goddess" route; thinking that a guest could wear this to a daytime garden wedding, or a beach wedding, but I also would recommend it for bridesmaids as well--especially if you are just having one attendant, that way the line up of floral prints won't be overwhelming.  Wouldn't this be pretty for a maid of honor to have this as a signature dress? There are lots of options with this one and I love that it's so versatile. Sukey puts in accessories with some subtle abstractions on the floral theme: stylized flower earrings,  and that unique watercolor floral clutch.

I hope this floral foray has made you bloom with ideas of how to wear this trend. Until next month, Happy Dress to be WEDnesday!

Burgundy Wedding Inspiration
It's the Wednesday of the last week of the month, which means it's time for Dress to be WEDnesday! Since February is all about love, red and variations of red have been everywhere this month; Dress for The Wedding has been showing several red looks on Dress For The Wedding, so we'll close out the month with one more! This month's color is Burgundy or Wine, and KristynJennifer of KristynJennifer Events -LiveEventfully has chosen it for a special reason.  My boyfriend's sister is getting married soon and has selected this burgundy wine hue as one of her wedding colors.  In honor of her, we present some burgundy wedding inspiration!

As usual, Dress for the Wedding and I have pinned some inspiring images on Pinterest. Be sure to follow Kristyn, and if you're planning a Burgundy wedding too, check out this board filled with Burgundy ideas

Burgundy is such a versatile color, and like wine, it has quite a range: it can go from a dusty dark purple, to a reddish-brown, or a deep, dark red. Personally, my favorite is when all of these are mixed together like in the bouquet of calla lilies above.  To show the range of hues and dress styles available, here are 4 of Dress for the Wedding's picks for bridesmaid dresses. If you haven't discovered Weddington Way yet, head on over there; they show bridesmaids dresses by color which--for visual people like me-- is such a helpful way to shop. # of the picks below are available through them!

Since Sukey from Dress for the Wedding, didn't style a complete look like she often does, She has also included some other accessories that will carry this wine-colored theme through for the groom and groomsmen, and even the into invites and table decor. This color is a natural for a rustic or romantic themed wedding as well as anything with wine theme or winery venue as a backdrop. It can be accented with black, gold, silver, or a range of other deep reds.

Just as one might toast with a glass of red wine, as we bid adieu to February, join me in raising this bit of wine-colored inspiration and wishing our very best blessings to our bride-to-be!

Dress to be WEDnesday: Emerald Green Weddings and Spring Trends

Hello, everyone! We're back from a long break over the holidays to return with some bold color inspiration in the form of emerald green. We're not sure if it's just because the wedding industry really takes notice when Pantone announces the Color of the Year, but this year, when it was revealed that emerald green was the selected color, it seemed like it was really big news everywhere we looked. Now we can't peek at a website or Pinterest without seeing someone dressing in, or decorating with emerald green!

While we agree it's a great color, Dress for The Wedding  and I decided to break things up  a little and show you different ways to incorporate this great green  hue with a few other trends that are happening right now.

If you can't get enough emerald green, and want some more green wedding inspiration, we've pinned plenty of it here. If you enjoy these  pins, be sure to follow KristynJennifer Events  - LiveEventfully and Dress For  The Wedding !

Emerald and Hot Pink

Emerald Green and Hot Pink
First up in our emerald look is emerald and hot pink.  Green and pink have always been a classically feminine color combination, and a popular choice for weddings. But using a staid dark jewel color like emerald and putting it with a trendy bright, youthful color like hot pink is not only a little unexpected; it makes the green less stuffy and much more vibrant.  Hot pink and other bright colors are really in this season for weddings and in accessories, so if one combines the two trends, well... it's a pretty hip thing to do.

Emerald  and Purple

Emerald Green  and Deep Purple

The other trend we've been seeing a lot more of are jewel tones.  Of those jewel tone colors, a deep purple like this one marries exceptionally well with emerald green. The two rich, dark compliment each other well, and look elegant together. Here's how we envisionedwearing it.

Emerald Green and Bright Lime

Emerald Green and Tender Shoots Green
Tone-on-tone looks are also a big trend this season. Rather than being completely matchy and monochromatic the approach takes different variations of the color and layering the same color family. If you want to have emerald as a wedding color but also want to make it light and fun enough for summer or spring, adding lime green is a great option. We love how a light lime green looks with emerald, giving brightness to what can be sometimes be thought of as  a dark, wintry color.  In fact, on of the other Pantone colors of the year is "Tender Shoots" which is a light spring green. So, if you pair the two, you'll have not one but two "of the moment" colors.

Hope you have enjoy our take on how to dress up with the color of the year. Read other Dress to be WEDnesday posts  like this one  and this one, or Meet KristynJennifer!
